Significance
Industrial and Agricultural Development are an important factor in the economic development and income of the country, this is mainly from industrial and agricultural production. Therefore, the population operating in the industrial and agricultural sectors must be good health for working capacity that effect to productivity.
Thailand currently has approximately 300,000 establishments. They are approximately 8,000,000 employees are employed under the compensation fund. In this point, the health of the employees is an important issue. They are concerning occupational diseases such as lead poisoning, environment that is not suitable for work which affect to the worker health. Moreover, the production process causes injury or physical accidents that affect the general public health or the death from work because From unsafe machine/equipment. It also includes chemical poisoning, pesticides and weeds in agriculture.
Therefore, the occupation of the people must be protected by the 2007 Constitution, Section 44, which requires a person to be eligible for safety and welfare at work. Therefore, the establishment must prioritize and manage occupational health and safety in the workplace as well as to organize the work environment that requires knowledgeable and skill people by using science and technology to operate and transfer knowhow to the owner and operation department. The workforce is also scarce in the public sector and the private sector. In particular, many factory industrials require occupational health specialist to manage the occupational health and safety of the work areas.
Pathum Thani University recognizes the importance of producing occupational health specialist to solve problems. Therefore, it is recommended that graduates of occupational health and safety should be produced.
